Often pain, as well as most illnesses, are caused or aggravated by stress and inflammation. Dr. Owen often recommends cannabis for many health conditions. The State of Florida recently approved the sale of CBD as well as other cannabinoids. Cannabis is so important for human health, that it is very important to clarify the difference between marijuana and hemp. Both plants are very similar as they come from the Cannabis Sativa L. family. The difference is that Hemp has very little THC and more CBD and other Cannabinoids.
The Hemp extract only comes from the flower and the Hemp seed is an immunomodulator. While the seed has medicinal benefits, it is not going to have the Cannabinoids. You will not get Cannabinoids from the seeds.
Studies show Hemp seed oil to be exceptionally rich in polyunsaturated fatty acids and gamma-linolenic acid. It is antithrombotic, anti-inflammatory, anti-asthmatic, immunomodulatory and great for autoimmune disorders. Hemp seed oil is not a cannabinoid, as Cannabinoids only comes from the flower.
WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN HEMP FLOWER AND MARIJUANA?
Hemp has very little THC, less than 3%. THC is psychoactive (makes you high) and retards the development of the frontal lobe of humans under the age of 25. Marijuana has a much larger amount of THC as well as CBD, which balances some of the psychoactive aspects of THC. Marijuana plants are often bred to have more THC and less CBD.
Qualifying conditions for a marijuana card in the state of Florida include:
- Cancer
- Epilepsy
- Glaucoma
- HIV
- AIDS
- Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD)
- Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS)
- Crohn’s disease
- Parkinson’s disease
- Multiple sclerosis (MS)
- Medical conditions of the same kind or class as or comparable to those above
- A terminal condition diagnosed by a physician other than the qualified physician issuing the physician certification
- Chronic nonmalignant pain caused by a qualifying medical condition or that originates from a qualifying medical condition and persists beyond the usual course of that qualifying medical condition
Other states have included conditions such as Arthrosis, epilepsy, Huntington’s, Autism, Opioid use disorder, Nerve Pain, Neuropathies, neurodegenerative diseases, tumor surveillance and reproduction, and sickle cell in their list of approved conditions.
