Parkinson’s disease: Florida is the 4th in the country in the prevalence of Parkinson’s disease.  People in Sunrise and Downtown Miami are no exception.  According to the Parkinson’s Foundation 60 million people are diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease every year.  The incidence of Parkinson’s increases with age. The average age of diagnosis is 56 years old (1).  This disease affects men more that women.  According to routers news service the rates of Parkinson’s disease is increasing, perhaps due to environmental factors.

What is Parkinson’s?

Parkinson’s disease is characterized by a progressive loss of muscle control brought about by malfunction of methylation pathways that control dopamine an important neurotransmitter in the brain.  This is characterized by a loss of muscle control caused by degeneration of the brain.

CHIROPRACTIC CARE HAS BEEN SHOWN TO BE VERY EFFECTIVE FOR PATIENTS WITH PARKINSONS DISEASE:   A 2004 study of 81 people in the Journal of the Vertebral Subluxation found a causal link between the onset of Multiple Sclerosis and Parkinson’s disease and head trauma.  Adjustments to subluxations in the cervical spine were found to reverse or prevent the progression of Parkinson’s disease in study of 81 people.  (2).  Some patients in the study have had a complete reversal of symptoms with a single adjustment.  Just about all Parkinson’s patients find chiropractic helpful in increasing quality of life and preventing progression of symptoms.
