Auto Injuries Can Cause Anxiety and Mental Health Issues

Many people in Downtown Miami, Plantation, and Sunrise and just about everywhere can feel traumatized following a car auto injury.  The shock can last for weeks, and the effects can last a lifetime.  Some people experience post-traumatic stress disorder and other stress-related syndromes.   The stress can express itself in mood disorders, clumsiness, forgetfulness, insomnia, headaches, anxiety, panic attacks and muscle tension among other symptoms.  Some of these symptoms can actually be caused by physical damage to the brain.

One important cause of Anxiety following auto injury is damage to the brain caused by  misalignment of the atlas/occipital junction this is where the head connects to the neck.  This area is very frequently affected by the whipping of the cervical spine on impact.   This can prevent proper circulation of blood to the brain.  Think about this, your brain will die if it is deprived of oxygen for 5 minutes.  Misalignments of the spine can deprive the brain of all of the oxygen it needs and prevent the brain from functioning at 100 percent.   Over time this can cause long-term damage to the brain and all the functions it controls.  A brain that is physically compromised can exhibit emotional sysmptoms such as forgetfulness, anxiety, and other mental health issues.

Stress to the Brain Can Compromise your Long-Term Health!

Stress to the brain can affect the function of the Atlas/occipital junction that controls your autonomic nervous system.   90% of the brain expenditure is running the autonomic nervous system.  The autonomic nervous system controls everything that your body does without your conscious control.  Such as sleep, digestion, immunity, sex, cardiovascular function, etc..  Not sleeping is one of the first signs that your brain stem is under stress.  The sequela can progress to other autonomic nervous system functions.  Stress to the brain perpetuates more stress when unchecked, even affecting your sex life and causing other seemingly unrelated diseases like heart disease.

STRESS CAN CAUSE LONG TERM CHEMICAL CHANGES IN THE BODY

It is normal to feel stress in some situations such as having a car accident.  During trauma you body starts pumping out chemicals and stress hormones.  Some of them are designed to help you run or react faster to a life threatening situations.  After the threat is gone it is also normal for your body to return to normal.  Sometimes it doesn’t and these changes become permanent.  This is called post traumatic stress disorder.  Many people walk around with different variations of post traumatic stress.  It invades your life like walking around with ugly glasses instead of the more favored rose colored kind.

The chemical changes that are caused by trauma have been visualized under a microscope

They have even been found to bind to DNA and affect replication.  This why often why people who have experienced trauma also come to their chiropractor experiencing a lot of muscular skeletal pain.  Dr. Owen has a lot of experience treating people with a chiropractic technique called NEURO EMOTIONAL TECHNIQUE, which has been shown to be so effective that changes in the brain can be visualized on an MRI after only 6 visits.

“The chemicals that are running our body and our brain are the same chemicals that are involved in emotion.  That says to me that we’d better pay more attention to emotions with respect to health”
